Impact Knockdown Champion Jordan Grace talks about second title differences, world title hopes, and more

Impact Wrestling’s Slammiversary event was exciting from start to finish, and one of tonight’s best matches was the first-ever Queen of the Mountain match. It was Jordynne Grace who managed to overcome all the hurdles and claim the Knockouts World Championship, and she’s already primed to defend the title tonight against all odds. ComicBook.com had a chance to talk to Grace about her big championship win as well as her future hopes, how this second title would be different from her last, and more, but we had to start with the Queen of the Mountain match, which was all Grace was hoping for.

“Oh, I honestly think it walked like 10 times better than we ever imagined. I did a lot of high-risk things, and honestly, I was like, ‘Oh my God, I just pray for everyone who was jumping things, falling from stairs to tables.'” It was something else. It really couldn’t be better than that.

All the women were handed out in a Queen of the Mountain match, although two names in particular came out thanks to two memorable match moments. “Man, to be completely honest, every woman in that match, they really gave it their all,” Grace said. “They just went in there and killed her. They didn’t hesitate to do anything. They all love wrestling as much as I do. I’d say the two people who really stuck with me were Mia Yeah, my God, I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve been like, ‘Are you Are you sure you want to do the ladder thing?” Before the game I was like, “Are you sure?” because when you tried to climb in my face I said, “Dude, that’s high. this is scary. Are you sure you want to do this?” She said, “Yes, I will.”

“Very big props for doing that during the match, because I could never do that. So I definitely think she would be a great opponent for me in the future for the next title, and then also, I think someone was criminally underestimated in the this stage. Lots of people say different things about her. I think one of the reasons is because she’s so insanely beautiful Chelsea Green.” “I feel like she really isn’t afraid to put up with those crazy bumps. You carry the thing up the ladder, take a lot of things and always do whatever you suggest. Chelsea, like, “Yeah, let’s do that. I don’t care.” She knows no fear.”

During the match, fans noticed Grace paying tribute to Samoa Joe, including that Grace was praising the muscle title, which was something she knew she had to do in order to celebrate the impact and TNA “was absolutely a thing… I was like, ‘Ali to do this. This is something I have to do.” Because it’s the first person I’ve ever seen use a Muscle Buster, which is the reason I wanted to use it in Impact. Being the 20th Anniversary Show, I was like, “This is the perfect moment to do that.” So I guess the match he did, was in 2008, and he actually got the title and that way he kept the title. That was the end of both games, and I felt like it was a good tribute there for the 20th anniversary,” Grace said.

There were quite a few Easter eggs from Impact and TNA throughout the night, and for Grace, that was part of what made Slammiversary so entertaining for old fans.

“I think we, on the list, did a really good job. If you’re not a fan of Impact, you wouldn’t think of anything. They just move on to you. But if you’ve been a longtime Impact fan and you’ve been watching for 20 years, you know,” said Grace. On the little Easter eggs.” “And I think we made Impact fans who have been here forever really happy with this show.”

Oh, and in terms of how the match ended, it was totally supposed to be a hook for the Knockouts World Championship at Queen of the Mountain. “It was supposed to be a hook at 100%. That’s why the belt was tied, and then when I get to the top, ‘I’m like, ‘Where’s the hook?'” “So I had to unpack,” Grace said.

“The last 12 games, there was only one more game where there was no hook, and I really think they forgot that time too, because why would there be a hook in every other game and then no hook in that match? It doesn’t make sense.” “But yeah, I was just frustrated because the fans were like, ‘Oh, you didn’t actually win because you didn’t pack it up.’ And I said, ‘That’s not a rule.'” There is no rule that says you must do this. You’re supposed to fasten your belt.”

Now Grace is the knockout champion again, but that really feels like a completely different experience compared to her first win of the tournament.

“It’s a completely different feeling. I didn’t just reinvent myself as a wrestler and athlete. I also feel like my first title didn’t really matter because I got it at the end of January 2020, and then I just went to the pandemic right away. So I didn’t really get the experience of the fans and defending This title is in front of the fans and I never had the opportunity to be a real face of the knockout division,” said Grace. “Now I feel like I’m getting this opportunity and I’m ready for it.”

Now that the Queen of the Mountain match is officially in the books, Grace has her eyes set on the future, specifically the Impact World Championship match. “Man, I’d like to take on someone in the world title match, for Impact. That would be great. That’s one of my big goals, and I hope in the end to get a world title match and become the second world champion in Impact. That’s a big, big goal.” For me “.
